Interview with Darren Aspinall, architect. Age 26. Comes
from Wigan, Greater Manchester.
What does your job involve?
During the early stages of a project we work with a client
to develop initial design ideas and concepts. Increasingly
we use CAD (Computer Aided Design) packages with 3D images,
animated walkthroughs and photographic montages to allow the
client - and ourselves - to clearly see how the building would
look in its environment. The next stage involves working with
a team of specialists and consultants to develop the final
design to produce a real 'working' building.
Why does it take such a long
time to train as an architect?
Did you always want to be
an architect?
Where do you see yourself
five years from now?
What about the financial
rewards?
Which aspects of your work
do you like the most?
What about the not so good
bits?
Any advice?
And do you look forward to
work every day?
