Interview with Darren Aspinall, architect. Age 26. Comes
from Wigan, Greater Manchester.
What does your job involve?
Why does it take such a long
time to train as an architect?
Did you always want to be
an architect?
Where do you see yourself
five years from now?
What about the financial
rewards?
There is a bit of a misconception around that architects earn
incredibly high salaries and perhaps that was once true. Since
the recession in the 80s and 90s, salaries are very average
and in fact, starting salaries are not particularly good at
all when you consider the length of training involved - I
started on about £12,000. However, once I registered as a
chartered architect last year, my salary has risen relatively
quickly.
Which aspects of your work
do you like the most?
What about the not so good
bits?
Any advice?
And do you look forward to
work every day?
