Interview with Simon Tegala, sculptor Age 27, comes from
London
How important is what
you do to you?
What are you working on
at the moment?
'Anabiosis World' which is an international project across
10 countries using the internet. This involves monitoring
heart rates and displaying them live on large electronic signs
simultaneously around the world, over a two-month period.
Another series of installation works involve stylised video
performances on large pieces of suspended steel. From the
reverse I heat the steel in specific areas so that it glows
red-hot. The glow comes through the steel and interacts with
the projected image. Since graduating in 1995 I've had my
work in 30 exhibitions in 10 different countries.
Did you always want to
be an artist?
But you did go to art
school?
What was your degree like?
What happened then?
Were you immediately established
as a sculptor?
Do you still have to do
other work?
So obviously you do look
forward to work every day?
