Interview with Simon Tegala, sculptor Age 27, comes from
London
How important is what
you do to you?
What are you working on
at the moment?
Did you always want to
be an artist?
But you did go to art
school?
What was your degree like?
What happened then?
Were you immediately established
as a sculptor?
Do you still have to do
other work?
I currently work as a freelance video operator for the BBC
but, as I gradually make a name for myself, I will be able
to devote more time to my own work. Also, I have just been
awarded an artistic fellowship funded through NESTA (a national
body which uses lottery money to develop innovations in science,
technology and the arts) which will support me over the next
three years and will really change my life. I'll have the
time to work and I can afford the equipment and materials
I need. It's a fantastic time for me at the moment and I'm
really looking forward to the future.
So obviously you do look
forward to work every day?
