Interview with Gary Pennick, design and technology teacher Age 28. Comes from Whitby, North Yorkshire.

Did you originally set out to be a teacher?
You were happier studying on a more general course?
Why did you decide on teaching?
How did you get into it?
Then a teaching qualification followed?
And now you're doing it for real?
I've been working at this school as a supply teacher for three terms. Supply teaching means that I'm working on a temporary contract but I'm here until the end of this term at least and I really enjoy it. I'd definitely want to work in an inner-city school again; the challenges and the opportunities are great.
What's the best thing about what you do? Would you say teaching was a good career to go into?
What about the bad bits?
And the financial rewards?
Have you any advice for someone considering a career in teaching?
And do you look forward to work everyday?
