More than meets the eye
Graphic design comes in where words and visual images are
used to convey ideas and information. So graphic design features
in lots of different areas including advertising, publishing,
signage, packaging, corporate identity (a company's image
and logo) and multimedia.
What are the skills involved?
Who does what?
What would I learn if I studied to
be a graphic designer?
Are there many jobs in the graphics field?
Although more and more organisations are recognising the
importance of good design, Britain has the largest number
of graphic design higher education courses in Europe and this
means that entry to the profession is competitive. However,
there are more openings in graphic design than in any other
area of design - in advertising agencies, design studios,
in-house company departments and consultancies as well as
in the freelance sector.
