Interview with Janice Kirkpatrick, graphic designer Age:
37 Comes from: Dumfries
Did you set out to work
in design?
Was it hard setting up
your own business?
What do you do each day?
It's incredibly varied. I'm creative director in charge of
overall development and strategic thinking as well as being
involved upfront - pitching for new projects. We have a wide
range of clients across government, retail and the leisure
sectors for whom we undertake corporate, brand and interior
design. One day I could be overseeing a project to promote
England as a venue for the World Cup, the next I could be
doing some corporate graphic work. And, because of our client
base, there is a lot of international travel involved so I'm
often away working on projects all over the world.
Do you enjoy it?
Does the job pay well
too?
What would your advice
be to someone just starting out?
And when you wake up in
the mornings, do you look forward to work?
