Interview with Gary Pennick, design and technology teacher
Age 28. Comes from Whitby, North Yorkshire.
Did you originally set
out to be a teacher?
You were happier studying
on a more general course?
Why did you decide
on teaching?
How did you get into it?
Then a teaching qualification
followed?
And now you're doing it
for real?
Would you say teaching
was a good career to go into?
What about the bad bits?
And the financial rewards?
They do grow with your experience; they're not that bad. Of
course I know people who are working as graphic designers
and earning more but it doesn't tempt me. I enjoy what I do
and I'm happy with it.
Have you any advice
And do you look forward
to work everyday?
