Interview with Janice Kirkpatrick,
Age 41. Comes from Dumfries.
Janice is a Director of Graven Images in Glasgow. Graven Images
is a successful design consultancy offering architecture, interior design
and graphic design skills and services. Janice, who studied graphic
design at Glasgow School of Art, and co-director Ross Hunter, founded
the company after leaving art school.
Did you set out to work in design?
Was it hard setting up your own business?
What do you do each day?
You sound like you really enjoy it.
Does the job pay well too?
Well, there are probably easier ways to get rich! It pays reasonably well
but it's more about satisfaction with what you do. This isn't so much a job
as a lifestyle. Also you get to meet interesting and powerful people, you
get to travel and, most importantly I think, you get to create something to really
make something that has a positive effect on other peoples lives and businesses.
What would your advice be to someone just starting out?
And when you wake up in the mornings, do you look forward to work?
