Interview with Gary Pennick, design and technology teacher Age 28. Comes from Whitby, North Yorkshire.

Did you originally set out to be a teacher?
You were happier studying on a more general course?
Why did you decide on teaching?
How did you get into it?
Then a teaching qualification followed?
And now you're doing it for real?
What's the best thing about what you do? Would you say teaching was a good career to go into?
What about the bad bits?
And the financial rewards?
Have you any advice for someone considering a career in teaching?
Definitely. Go out and try and get as much experience in a school as possible. Go in as a helper for an afternoon a week or whatever time you can spare. It will really help you to decide if teaching is for you.
And do you look forward to work everyday?
